Notable events[edit | edit source]
- Turochamp, a Chess simulator, was developed by Alan Turing and David Champernowne. The code was too complicated to run on the machines of the time, so the code was never actually implemented. Alan Turing did test the code in a game in 1952 where he mimicked the operation of the code in a real chess game against a human opponent, but he was never able to run the actual program on a computer system.
- The patent filed in 1947 for the Cathode-ray tube amusement device was granted on December 14.
