An age rating is a symbol on the game box and media that displays the recommended age to play the game. There are three rating systems that are common in different parts of the world:
- BBFC is sometimes used in the United Kingdom as an alternative to the PEGI system.
- ESRB is the system used in the United States and Canada.
- PEGI is used in Europe.
- CERO is used in Japan.
