American English, also referred to as U.S. English, is the group of dialects and varieties of English commonly found in the United States. It is the more influential dialect group of English, being spoken natively by a wider populace. It is more influental globally despite being taught in schools in less countries over the world than British English.
Some games have two English versions intended for different markets but American English is frequently preferred as the only one. As one would expect, it is the standard language for user interfaces and subtitles in video games in the American market.
There are not many written distinctions in comparison to British English (Canadian English and Australian English, which are more similar to British English) beside vocabulary. American English does not reflect further language development on the British Isles and adopted Webster spelling reforms which make words of Latin or Greek origin simpler, shorter and more phonetic.
