The Amiga was a line of personal computers produced by Commodore International, introduced in 1985 and discontinued in 1996. Its competitors were the Atari ST and Apple Inc.'s Macintosh and Apple IIGS.
Initially, the Amiga was created by computer chip designer Jay Miner and Hi-Toro (later named Amiga Corporation). Commodore purchased Amiga Corporation in 1984 and released the first Amiga computer, the Amiga 1000, a year later.
