Ascension is a game that was being developed by RenWerX, creators of the Tribes 2 mod, Renegades. When finished, it will to be a multi-player focused first "person-z" shooter like the Tribes series. To accomplish this, it was being developed using the Torque Game Engine, a highly modified version of what powered Tribes 2. The game now looks like it was cancelled.
The developers mentioned several times that the game would be freely modifiable in the spirit of STARSIEGE: Tribes and Tribes 2.
