BASIC (an acronym for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) is a programming language used by computers. In the early days of computer gaming, it was one of the most widely-used programming languages by programmers for creating all sorts of games. Most home computers released in the late 1970s and early 1980s had a form of BASIC running on them, either built-in or through storage media like cartridges and floppy discs.
