Baldur's Gate is a game developed by Bioware and published in 1998. The game has a sequel, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.

Main character learns of a threat and must find out the reason behind the enemies actions.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The player can choose from many things to make their characters. There are six races, eight core character classes and eight specialty mage classes. The player can create a party of six from many NPCs. The NPCs can turn against player if player's intentions contradict their own. The game can be played online or locally cooperatively with up to six players but the game still centers on host which ends the game if host is killed. The game is played real time with AD&D second edition rules and has isometric view.

The Windows version has a 92% average on Game Rankings and Mac has 90%. It has also been awarded many 1998 game and RPG of the year awards and other awards.
Releases[edit | edit source]
The game has been re-released as part of the following compilations: Baldur's Gate 4 in 1 boxset and Baldur's Gate: the Original Saga. It also has expansion pack Tales of the Sword Coast. There are other Baldur's Gate games: Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
