Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing 2000, more commonly known as Carmageddon TDR 2000 (or Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 in North America), is an action-racing-vehicular combat video game. The sequel to Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now, it was developed by Torus Games and released in the United Kingdom on September 1, 2000, and on December 14 in North America.
The title is a homage to an inspiration for the Carmageddon series, Death Race 2000. As with the other games in the series, one of the most controversial aspects was that pedestrians could be killed by immolation [disambiguation needed] or graphic collisions that could include dismemberment. Versions of the game in some countries replaced the human pedestrians with zombies (actually only changing the red blood to green slime), but patches were circulated on the internet that reverted the game to its original state.
While still part of the game series' canon, the gameplay failed to enhance the original. Due to poor sales, a fourth game is not in the planning process as of yet.
During development of TDR 2000, SCi hired Tozzer.com to create an online comic based on the Carmageddon video game.[1]
Expansion pack[ | ]
The Nosebleed Pack was an official expansion pack for TDR2000, adding new vehicles, environments, powerups and improved multiplayer modes with extra maps. It was later released as a free patch. The sound track is by Plague and Utah Saints.
Community MAX-Pack[ | ]
The MAX-Pack is an unofficial add-on pack based on the original Nosebleed Pack. The pack combines the best community created add-ons, track skins, car skins, fixes, tools, tweaks and multiplayer levels available on the internet. It allows quick installation and standardizes multiplay with add-ons. A new addition is the TDRLauncher, a flexible TDR 2000 Game Launcher with some extra features.
The latest version was released in October 2008 (MAX-Pack 1.14f), followed with a 1.15 beta patch.
