CellFactor: Revolution is a tech demo/game from Artificial Studios, Timeline Interactive and Immersion Games designed to show off the capabilities of the Ageia line of PhysX cards. These cards are designed for only physics processing. This allows the games that use the card to have a more physics-based gameplay.
Game information[ | ]
Specifically designed to show off the multiple physical effects that can be bolstered with the AGEIA card, the CellFactor demo features barrels and boxes. They're solid, heavy, and deadly, if used in the right way. Using your character's psychic powers, you can lift and toss practically any of these small items and watch as they all interact with one another—bumping and slamming into one another and spreading across the ground. If you build up enough power, you can even force-push through a pile of debris and use that to take out enemies, called out as a "PhysX Kill" by the game.
Artificial Studios has announced that CellFactor: Combat Training will be developed into a full single-player game. However, the single-player portion was removed from the final product. After its presentation at E3, it sparked the interest of publishers, and A.S. decided it was now or never to develop CF into a full title. It was released on May 8, 2007[1] and was made available free via the title's website (no longer in use). The game can still be downloaded from ComputerGames.ro.
AGEIA Technologies, Inc., the creator of the PhysX Accelerator, currently has a contest running known as the CellFactor Modders Program. It is currently full, but there are several mods unfolding for it including Chimera Island and Warzone.
CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars[ | ]
In June 2009 a new first person shooter based on the CellFactor engine has been released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with the name CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars. The game is only available through digital download. CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars includes a very short single-player mode - composed by 30 "missions", 10 for each of the three character classes - and several multi-player modes, along with seven different arenas. The game includes four game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag and Assault.
