Conker: Live & Reloaded is a 2005 game starring Conker for the Xbox Live and is a remake of Rare's controversial Conker's Bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64. It features a completely new graphics upgrade, with some new enemies, and most of all, a newly fleshed out multiplayer mode with Xbox live capabilities. This new multiplayer mode plays similarly to a third-person shooter. It was decently received by critics such as IGN and GameSpot who hailed it as the first good Rare game since being bought out by Microsoft.
Gameplay[]
Single Player Mode[]
The single player mode is simply a copy of the Nintendo 64 game "Conker's Bad Fur Day" with improved graphics. Other improvements made include the fact that more swears have been censored out this time. Also Conker's design has changed as well. Conker appears to be a little furrier, he wears a different coat, has pants, and does not wear gloves. The censoring of many swears has lead to controversy among fans since a majority of swears in the "Great Mighty Poo Song" have been censored out making it less funny. Also the newer version of the game toned down the violence.
Multiplayer Mode[]
While the single player mode is a carbon copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day, the multiplayer mode on Xbox Live is a separate game itself, and a somewhat sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day. The multiplayer mode is known as "Conker Live & Reloaded" the game's cover title. The Multiplayer Mode is only available through internet connection (via Xbox Live) in which the player picks a character in one of various classes and can pick between a squirrel or the enemy Tediz. The multiplayer mode is a first-person shooter based on games like Doom or Halo. Players can also work with other players online in order to complete certain tasks similar to the friends system in Disney's Toontown Online. There are various different maps where the player can play on similar to the multiplayer mode in Conker's Bad Fur Day.
Plotline[]
Single Player[]
The single player mode's plot is basically the same plot as Conker's Bad Fur Day since it is a remake of the game.
Multiplayer Mode[]
The multiplayer mode appears to have a separate plotline from the game itself and can be considered a sequel to Bad Fur Day of sorts. Basically the plot of Live & Reloaded is a follow up to the "It's War" chapter of Conker's Bad Fur Day. After the day called the "Bad Fur Day" where many squirrels died during the war against Professor Von Kripplespac's Tediz. Eventually at the end of Conker's Bad Fur Day, Kripplespac was sucked into space but is still alive. Kripplespac then headed back to Earth and created a new army of teddy bear warriors called the Mecha-Teddy Bears. Conker who is now king of the land sets his recruits to go fight this danger.
Reception[]
The game was positively reviewed among fans. Game Trailers gave the game an 8.5 out of a 10 saying that playing through the Nintendo 64 game again was fun and the multiplayer mode is good but, criticizes the fact that with three whole years Rare should of put time into making a new Conker game and the many of the cutscenes motions could have been improved. Many fans believe that this is the first good Rare game during the Microsoft era.
