A Dedicated console is a video game console that can only play a limited selection of video games, characterized by lacking a means of expanding that selection. While this used to be a result of hardware limitations during the first generation of video game development, classic "Retro" dedicated consoles have been released by manufacturers looking to capitalise on nostalgia, such as the NES Classic, SNES Classic, PlayStation Classic, Genesis Mini and Mega Drive Mini.
