Destiny 2 is the sequel to Destiny, developed by Bungie and published by Activision. The game was released on September 8, 2017, and was the first game in the series to be released on Microsoft Windows (via the Blizzard service), in addition to releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

On October 1, 2019, as a consequence of Bungie no longer partnering with Activision, Destiny 2 ceased being available on Blizzard (as of version of the game), leaving players just with an 'Uninstall' button. Destiny 2 began accepting account migrations as soon as the Steam version of the game became available, which also marked the transition from buy to play to free to play.
