Discord is an instant-messaging application with similarities to the Internet Relay Chat protocol. The application is specifically aimed at players of video games, and the software has both smartphone and desktop clients. The desktop client is capable of displaying which video game the user is playing to others, and capable of displaying an in-game overlay. The software also has functionality that enables users to join voice call groups, similar to how TeamSpeak and Skype operate.
