Eidos was a developer and publisher of entertainment software with game titles for PC, PlayStation, GameCube, Xbox and N-Gage consoles.
Eidos was the largest video games developer and publisher in the United Kingdom. They are perhaps best known for the Tomb Raider series, Thief series and the Hitman series.
In July 2009, Eidos was absorbed into Square Enix's new European division Square Enix Europe and its development studios were taken over by that organization as well as Square Enix, Inc. The Eidos publishing franchise ended around 2010.
