Final Fantasy: Unlimited was the first anime series to be based on the Final Fantasy series. Like each installment of a Final Fantasy, the story of the anime appears to have no connection to any of the games, other than being in the same universe, by incorporating FF mainstays like Chocobos, Cactuars and Moogles.

The series started in Japan in the year 2001. It ran for a mere 25 episodes and received poor ratings. It was released in North America and Europe in 2005 on DVD.
