FireWire

The wire is not actually on fire

FireWire is a high-speed data transfer standard developed by Apple and Texas Instruments. Technically referred to as IEEE 1394, traditional FireWire can transfer data at a rate of up to 400 megabits per second. A faster standard, "FireWire 800" (or IEEE 1394b) can transfer at up to twice the speed.
