Codex Gamicus

F1 2006, also known as Formula One 06 or F1 06, is a racing video game developed by Studio Liverpool and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was released for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in 2006. This was the last game in the series to be released on the PlayStation 2. Another game called Formula One Championship Edition was released based on the 2006 Formula One Season but for the PlayStation 3.

The game uses the same engine as F1 2005 but with minor modifications. The game has career mode like most modern F1 games in the series.

In career mode, the player starts with either Super Aguri, Toro Rosso or Midland F1. The player takes a trial session and their position in the team is determined by their time. The players career last for five total seasons, in which they try to become World Champion. Through the career, the player will join more competitive teams, e.g. McLaren, Ferrari, Renault or Honda. During career mode the player will earn trophies and medals.
