Games for Windows - LIVE (often abbreviated as GFWL) was an online gaming service operated by Microsoft Corporation. It allowed for achievements to be earned during gameplay, cross-platform gameplay with Xbox 360, and multiplayer gameplay among other features.
It was first launched on May 29, 2007 with the release of Shadowrun, which was also the first LIVE title to offer cross-platform play between Windows Vista and Xbox 360 players.
Games for Windows - Live has since been replaced with the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 and 11.
