Codex Gamicus

Grand Theft Auto Online (also known as GTA Online) is an online multi-player action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 1, 2013; for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014; for Microsoft Windows (available via Steam and Rockstar Games Launcher on April 14, 2015 and via Epic Games Store on May 14, 2020), and for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S on March 15, 2022. In the first release of the game, Grand Theft Auto is the online component of Grand Theft Auto V and is set within the same fictional state of San Andreas. When it was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Grand Theft Auto Online was the main title that was downloadable, with the single-player Grand Theft Auto V single-player only available as a separate downloadable DLC for it. Despite being earlier bundled with Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online is considered a separate, stand-alone title.

Heists[ | ]

Heist missions allow players to plan, prepare and execute multi-tiered heists, raids and robberies across San Andreas through a series of missions organized by Lester Crest, Trevor Phillips and a new character known as Agent 14. These missions require tight communication and coordination, with players taking on specific roles at each point to accomplish multiple objectives.

Five Heists are currently added with each heist requiring numerous setup missions:
