Jeremiah "Jerry" Hazelnut is one of the two main characters of the point-and-click adventure game The Night of the Rabbit. He is a 12-year-old aspiring magician who discovers a formula to create a "carrot flame" which leads him to meet the Marquis de Hoto.
Throughout The Night of the Rabbit[]
At the beginning of the game, he discovers a formula to create a "carrot flame," which leads to the appearance of a mysterious traveling case. Inside the case, he finds a wand, a magic hat, and an anthropomorphized albino rabbit named Marquis de Hoto.
Marquis tells Jerry about the existence of parallel universes and offers to take him on as an apprentice in order to become a magician. Jerry agrees and travels with the Marquis to a parallel universe inhabited by talking woodland animals. Throughout the game, Jerry learns about "portal trees" and travels to different worlds to learn four spells in order to become a "Treewalker."
As he progresses through the game, Jerry discovers that the parallel universe is facing an attack from an evil magician named Zaroff, who has already conquered many other parallel universes. Jerry uses the spells he has learned to defeat Zaroff and free the inhabitants of the parallel universe from his influence.
Throughout his journey, Jerry also discovers that his father has been removed from his world and all memories of him erased. He is determined to break the curse and restore his father to his world. In the end, he successfully defeats Zaroff and returns home in time for dinner with his father restored to his world.
