Linux Game Publishing (sometimes also referred to as LGP) is a software company based in Nottingham in England. It ports, publishes and sells video games running on Linux operating systems. As well as porting games, LGP also sponsors the development of Grapple, a free software network library for games.
As well as acting as a Linux game porter in of themselves, they also function as a publisher for other Linux game developers and porters. Examples of their purely published works include some ports by Ryan C. Gordon (Candy Cruncher and Postal2)[1][2] IGIOS (Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor),[3] Hyperion Entertainment (Gorky 17), Mindware Studios (Cold War)[4] RuneSoft (Software Tycoon and Knights and Merchants: The Shattered Kingdom).[5] and RakeInGrass (Jets'n'Guns).[6]

The company was founded in 2001 by Michael Simms when the similarly oriented Loki Software filed for bankruptcy.[7] August 30, 2005 cancell contract to publish Northland In June 24, 2008 Copy protection system [8] In December 2008, LGP also launched PenguinPlay, a new website for Linux gamers, allowing matchmaking for multiplayer games, and social networking.[9] In June 2009 downloadable games and rental [10]

Open source projects[ | ]
LGP sponsors the development of Grapple, a free software network library for games. They work on other open source projects such as SDL or OpenAL.[12] Micheal Simms also claims that LGP avoids publishing games similar to popular open source video games.[13]
