Expansion packs are not used in calculation of the sales figure for the original game (with the exception of StarCraft and Guild Wars). - ↑ World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has sold 4.7 million copies during its' first month of release.[9] Since a copy of the main game and all prior expansions are required to play Cataclysm, both the original game and the expansions must also have sold at least 4.7 million copies. There are 10 million subscribers of World of Warcraft. Seeing as a copy of the base game is required, as to subscribing, there must be at least 10 million people who own the base game.
