Lock's Quest is a real-time strategy tower defense game about a young Archineer named Lock, defending his home kingdom from Lord Agony and his robotic Clockwork Army.
The game was originally released in September 2008 for the Nintendo DS, published by THQ and developed by 5th Cell. On May 30, 2017, the game was ported onto modern home consoles like the PlayStation 4, XBOX One and PC. In September 2019, the game was ported onto Android devices.
Story[]
In an unnamed Kingdom, a race of citizens, known as Archineers, built the land using a mysterious essence called Source. One of the greatest Archineers to have ever lived was Agonius, who sought out the purpose of discovering the mysteries behind Source to create life. However, the King knew the dangers and demanded Agonius to halt his work. Infuriated, he refused, and was banished from the nation. Seeking revenge, he assumed the mantle of Lord Agony and created an invincible army of robots, known as Clockworks, waging war across the enitre kingdom. After a while, Lord Agony was defeated, and the people enjoyed many years of peace. However, when a new Clockwork army suddenly resurfaces, its up to a young man, named Lock, to protect the kingdom from the enemies, whilst looking for his lost sister, Emi.
Gameplay[]
Single player[]
Lock's Quest is divided to Build and Battle modes. The main gimmick of the whole gameplay involves utilizing the Touch Screen. The original DS version has 100 main days (120 in total), while the remastered port has 74 main days (78 in total).
In Build mode, players will construct an impenetrable barrier of towers, and set up traps for the enemies. In Battle mode, you'll go head-to-head against multiple enemies, using Special and Super Attacks to trip them up whilst playing unique minigames.
Within the core gameplay, there are also separate game modes to play in order to progress. Siege mode, in which you'll play in a classic 2D-styled tower defense minigame, warding off attacks from multiple Clockworks. You can also purchase upgrades, power-ups and allies. In the remastered port, this mode was replaced with Antonia Defense, in which you will build towers and traps to defend your Source Well.
Mutliplayer[]
In the original DS version, you can play Lock's Quest with another friend locally, going head-to-head against each other to protect your Source Well against each players' armies of Clockworks wave after wave.

Main[]
- Lock - The main protagonist and only playable character in the game.
- Emi - Lock's little sister who goes missing.
Antagonists[]
- Jacob - An elderly man who once fought in the first war against Agonius. He then raised Lock and Emi at a seaside village, but was later found out to be responsible for the resurge of the Clockwork army, and took on as the "new" Lord Agony.
- Clockworks - The villainous faction of the game.
Supporting[]
- Isaiah - A Fourth Rank Archineer from the city of Antonia, who forms a strong bond with Lock. He commands the Eastern Forest.
- Heathern - A Senior Archineer who commands the Southern Front. Somewhat cold at first, but becomes a key character later on in the game.
- Kenan - The Chief Archineer who once fought in the first war. He gives Lock a test to pass before the latter becomes an Archineer, and thus, successfully pass.
- Archineers - The race of people who built the land and fought against Agonius' army.
- Kingdom Force - The military army who help the Archineers protect the city of Antonia and the Kingdom itself.
- Gentz - A nomad who lives in the northern mountains with his people.
- Bluebit - A small, blue, furry creature who joins Lock in some of his journeys.
- Seers - People dressed in dark robes who reside in caves, tell key stories to Lock and grant him new Super Attacks.
