A Strategic Resource in video gaming, especially in 4X strategy video games, is a resource that the player can use to increase their cost resource coffers.

In Sid Meier's Civilization V, the game's luxury resources are ones that provide a bonus to Happiness upon being linked into the player's trade network. These can also be traded to other civilizations, usually for gold.
