Media for video games refers to how it is obtained. In terms of evolution, games have either:
- Been pre-bundled with the hardware
- Provided on a Cartridge
- Provided on a Floppy Disk(s)
- Provided via Optical Media (this includes CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Blu-Ray, and all derivative formats)
- Provided as a download via the Internet only
