A Micro Secure Digital Card, or MicroSD Card, is an ultra-lightweight, portable memory storage device, used primarily for mobile phones and anywhere that physical space for storage is at a premium. MicroSD cards are compatible with standard SD card readers via the use of an adaptor, as long as the standard of the MicroSD card matches the supported standard of the SD card reader. Like standard SD cards, they come in four categories; SD, SDHC, SDXC and SDUC. The following table outlines the capacities of each category:
The Nintendo Switch has a unique brand of MicroSD Cards, such as a red 128GB one depicting a Mushroom, though they function the same as regular MicroSDs, which are also compatible with the Nintendo Switch themselves.
