Morton Koopa Jr. is a brown Koopa Kid who sports a star-shaped birthmark over the left side of his face. Morton has a fighting style similar to his brother Roy Koopa.
Morton Koopa Jr. was named after Morton Downy Jr. who was a popular but controversial talk show host in the late eighties. Though he is named after Morton Downey Jr., Morton Koopa appears to be modelled after Paul Stanley from the band KISS.
In Super Mario Bros. 3 Morton takes a magical wand from the king of Desert Land and transforms him into a spider (In future remakes Morton transforms the king into a Hoopster, the ladybug enemies from Super Mario Bros. 2.). Mario, the plump plumber of The Mushroom Kingdom, travels to Desert Land and kicks Morton's butt. Morton, however, isn't down for the count. He returns in Super Mario World as the boss of the Donut Plains. Mario once again takes down this kid koopa and stomps his castle into the ground.
Morton returns with his brothers and sister as a miniboss in the game Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. In this game Morton attacks by stomping the ground creating a faintly visible shockwave sent across the ground. He also employs the use of a fireball attack.
Trivia[]
- The editors of the magazine Nintendo Power once claimed that when they asked Bowser why Morton Koopa was called "Jr.", he responded by pelting them with Bob-ombs.
- It is also noted that Morton JR might be named after his grandfather, however, this does not mean he is.
