Nazi Germany, officially known as the German Reich until 1943 and Greater German Reich from 1943 until 1945, was the predecessor sovereign state to modern-day Germany, and the referral of Germany as Nazi Germany reflects the period of time from when Adolf Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany in 1933, until the collapse of the state in 1945 at the hands of the Allied Powers.
