Worlds[ | ]
There are a total of nine worlds in New Super Mario Bros. U, each of which are modeled after a different environment. With the exception of Superstar Road, all of them are named after a food item. At the beginning of each world, a pipe exists to launch the player to any of the other worlds they have already unlocked.
Similarly to Super Mario World, the game features a seamless world map, with the individual worlds jointed together. The music for the first seven worlds keep the same tune, albeit played by different instruments depending on the region the player is in.
