The Nintendo 2DS is an eighth generation handheld video game system by Nintendo, released on October 12, 2013 to coincide with the release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. First announced in August of 2012, the Nintendo 2DS aimed to provide a means to access the content from Nintendo 3DS games, without the 3D functionality.
