Paddle

The paddle became the common name for a form of rotary dial controller used in first-generation videogame systems to control onscreen paddles in various types of Pong-style games. It was also the controller type used for certain Atari 2600 games programmed for it. These controllers had a control dial that spun in either direction to a certain stopping point, plus a single action button.
