Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise created by Nintendo and Game Freak, and is managed through The Pokémon Company. It first started as a video game series, and quickly expanded to other media, with an anime TV series with more than 1,000 episodes, a card game, as well as physical merchandise such as plush toys and pins. The series revolves around the use of Pokémon as creatures used to battle others, though these Pokémon are sometimes used for other activities such as visual contests.
