Pokémon Blue Version, along with its sister game, Pokémon Red Version, were re-released on the Nintendo 3DS as part of Virtual Console. Because of the newer hardware, the game was adapted to take advantage of the Nintendo 3DS' Wireless capabilities in lieu of the Game Boy Link Cable for multi-player and trading.
