Codex Gamicus

2022 sequel[]

Just a year later after the release of this game, a sequel to this game was released, it is called Many Buttons to Press. It is very different from the original game gameplay-wise.

In this game, the player controls a spaceship and their goal is to make a certain number of loops around the room. With each loop, a random obstacle is added. It may be spikes from the ceiling, homing missiles, mines, electric fields, etc. That means every next loop will be harder to complete. The controls would feel awkward at the beginning (that is intended) but it is possible to master these controls.

This is an arcade-style game with has a big emphasis on the story, the story being about how the video game itself thought it was boring and it is now trying its best to fix that.

The game takes about an hour to complete. The game consists of dialogues with the main character and of the one who is playing the game he is creating.

The player will need to stop falling blocks. If a block goes beyond the bottom edge of the screen, the player will lose a life. Though, the blocks are going to look different and have unique properties.

The game introduces a quirky character named A-Eye, an artificial intelligence character created to process data for important scientific research. When he gets bored with this assignment, he decides to turn the research into a video game. The fact that he can't draw game assets or compose music and knows nothing about game design is not going to stop him.

A-Eye would be extremely glad if the player would be an impartial critic for him, taking the player's own opinion on the game he's been working on.
