I've baked a cake for you. Yours truly, Princess Toadstool...Peach.|Princess Peach, Super Mario 64.}} Princess Peach Toadstool is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario's love interest. She usually plays the role of damsel-in-distress, being kidnapped by Bowser frequently. However, she also appears in the Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Mario Sports games as a playable character. Super Princess Peach is her predominant video game. ==Origin== The character first appeared as a princess (as Mario went from carpenter to plumber to hero) in Super Mario Bros. named Princess Toadstool. In Super Mario 64, Princess Toadstool was named again to Princess 'Peach' Toadstool, implying that Toadstool is her surname, and Peach is her informal name that Mario refers to her by now that they are acquainted. From then on, she has just been called Peach. There was confusion over whether or not Daisy was one of Peach's different names, but Princess Daisy has become her own character. In all remakes of games that have Pauline, she is replaced with Princess Peach. Peach first became playable in Super Mario Bros. 2. Her unique ability to hold the jump button and float on air made her a very good character for beginners. She is also always playable in the Mario Kart series as one of the lighter and faster characters. In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars she was the party's primary healer, and could also attack with Bob-ombs and frying pans. She is also the main character in the Nintendo DS game Super Princess Peach. ==Appearances== ===Super Mario Bros.=== She makes her debut in Super Mario Bros.. Bowser transforms Mushroom People into animate object. Princess Toadstool can undo the spell, but Bowser held her captive. Everytime Mario defeats Bowser, the Toads thank him and tells him that Princess Toadstool is in another castle. Mario defeats the real Bowser and rescues Princess Toadstool. ===Super Mario Bros. 2=== Princess Peach was called The Princess. The Princess marks her first playable appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2 who replaces Lina from Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. The Princess has poor strength, speed and jump, she has the weakest statistics, however, she can hover. ===Super Mario Bros. 3=== In Super Mario Bros. 3, Princess Toadstool has a similar sprite to Super Mario Bros. 2. Mario receives a letter from Princess Toadstool after defeating each Koopaling. After Mario defeats Ludwig von Koopa at Pipe Land, Mario receives a letter from Bowser that he kidnapped Princess Toadstool while he was "running around". Mario defeats Bowser in Dark Land and rescues Princess Toadstool as the room the brightens. Princess Toadstool might have joked that the real princess is in another castle. ===Super Mario World=== Princess Toadstool was kidnapped by Bowser in Super Mario World. She helped Mario while he was fighting Bowser. After Bowser was defeated, Toadstool was released and saved. She kissed Mario which his face obviously turned red. During the credits, Princess Toadstool was riding on Yoshi while Mario on the lead is walking along with the seven saved eggs. ===Super Mario 64=== In Super Mario 64, Princess Toadstool wrote a letter to Mario that she baked a cake for him. When Mario entered the castle. It turned out the voice of Bowser his heard, he tells him that nobody is home and tells him to scram. Mario has defeated Bowser and returned to Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Toadstool appears in front of Mario. She plans to bake a cake for Mario at the end of the plot. ===Super Mario Sunshine=== She was called Princess Peach for the first time in the English version. In the plot, Princess Peach rode on a plane with Mario and Toadsworth. She was interested in the advertisement of Isle Delfino. Princess Peach spot a shadow of Mario. She asked Toadsworth if he saw the shadow, but she realized she was daydreaming. When they were out of the plane, Peach spots Shadow Mario. She was about to mention what she had witnessed, but Shadow Mario was already gone. Princess Peach spots Shadow Mario on the statue's head assuming it was Mario. She understood the incident when Mario encounters Peach with Shadow Mario on the mecha. Once Mario and Shadow Mario meet again, Mario defeated the Mecha-Bowser and Shadow Mario had revealed himself to be Bowser Jr. who kidnapped Princess Peach. Bowser Jr. refers Princess Peach as "mama" which Peach looked perplexed. Bowser Jr. accuses Mario of "stealing" Princess Peach and moves to the Corona Mountain. Up at Corona Mountain, Princess Peach was sitting on a rubber duck feeling uncomfortable with the water. Mario catches up to them, Peach was pleased to see him and Mario defeats Bowser and Bowser Jr.. Bowser, Bowser Jr., Mario and Peach fell down from the sky. Mario and Peach were shocked to see the F.L.U.D.D. break down, however, Peach enjoys seeing the Shine Sprite return to the Shine Gate. On the other island, Bowser Jr. assures that Peach is not his "mama". Peach and Mario enjoyed the sunset until they notice a Toad that brought the F.L.U.D.D. that activated. ===Mario Kart series=== Her hair was loose from Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart: Super Circuit, then her hair was tied to the rest of the Mario Kart games. She was the only female character since her debut until Mario Kart: Double Dash!! had released. ====Super Mario Kart==== She debuts her first Mario Kart appearance in Super Mario Kart. Princess Peach was called Princess. As a CPU player, she can have Poison Mushrooms. ====Mario Kart 64==== Her name is Toadstool in Mario Kart 64, her course Royal Raceway is likely to be related to Princess Toadstool. In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, she has a course called Peach Circuit which reappeared in Mario Kart DS. ====Mario Kart: Double Dash!!==== In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Daisy is her predominant partner in the game, her kart is a Heart Coach. ==== [[Mario Kart DS] ==== In Mario Kart DS, Peach has her signature karts called Royale, Standard PC, and Light Tripper. While Peach is advanced at drifting corners, she has average item use. Her home course is Peach Gardens, and her previous home course, GBA Peach Circuit, reappears as a retro course. Due to Peach being available at the start, like other characters who are available at the start, they appear as a Staff Ghost in three courses. Three Staff Ghosts use her in Delfino Square, Peach Gardens and GBA Peach Circuit. In Mission Mode, Peach is automatically selected to fight King Boo at the end of level 5. ===Super Smash Bros. series=== ====Super Smash Bros. Melee==== Peach made her debut in Melee as a newcomer. One of her alternate costumes resembles Daisy prior to Daisy's short hair. With her new special moves, the Toad is Peach's standard move. Her side special move, Peach Bomber is her side special move that has no exact origin. The Peach Parasol is her up special move that is based off her parasol that she uses since Super Mario RPG. Her down special move, Vegetable is based off its appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2. ====Super Smash Bros. Brawl==== Peach's model changed to match the current resemblance of the Peach in the latest Super Mario games. Additionally, after the Final Smash mechanic was introduced, Peach has her Final Smash called Peach Blossom, which makes her opponents sleep while she summons peaches. ====Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Super Smash Bros. for Wii U==== Peach returns as a veteran fighter. ====Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ==== Peach returns as a veteran fighter in Ultimate. The characters who appeared in the first Super Smash Bros. game are available at the start, meaning Peach is an unlockable fighter. Additionally, her Daisy-based alternate costume has been replaced with a gold alternate costume. This is due to Daisy becoming a newcomer in Ultimate who is Peach's Echo Fighter, the first Echo Fighter announced in the trailer. The Echo Fighter mechanic was introduced for characters who share similar movesets and animations. If the player plays World of Light, Peach was one of the fighters captured under Galeem's control. The player can find Peach in the Molten Fortress sub-area where the player must use the ! Switches to activate the ! Blocks, a reference to Super Mario World where Mario or Luigi had to use them in the ! Switch Palace to be able to cross. Peach can be found in a desolate platform while Giga Bowser is a boss (Bowser can also be freed too), a callback to Peach's damsel-in-distress role. Peach and Bowser are the only fighters to appear in a sub-area in World of Light where they can be unlockable characters. In Peach's Classic Mode route, her opponents are fighters who kidnapped a damsel. All the stages in each round are from the Mario universe with the exception of King K. Rool. If the player chooses to play other modes, Peach will eventually appear as an unlockable fighter who is fought in Princess Peach's Castle in Melee. == Gallery == <gallery> PeachMarioKart8.jpg|Peach, tearing up the race track in Mario Kart 8.
