Raspberry Pi refers to a multi-generation series of SBCs designed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, and manufactured in the United Kingdom by them in association with Broadcom. While originally designed to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and in developing countries, the project has since been embraced by the hobbiest and technology enthusiast communities, who have been tempted by the device's low space and power footprints in addition to its versatility.
A number of addons exist for the Raspberry Pi series, such as cameras (including infrared and high-resolution), a touch display, a sensor panel, and various audio daughterboards, as well as a DVB-T2 decoder for digital TV. A board even exists to configure the Raspberry Pi for Power-over-Ethernet Plus, dispensing the need for a separate power supply. Cases for some models, as well as additional cables can be ordered; an internal fan can also be purchased for the Raspberry Pi 4.
A variant of the GNU/Linux operating system called RaspberryOS is available to download.
