Ryo Hazuki, the hero of the Shenmue series, was born in Yokosuka, Japan. His mother died when he was an infant and his father(Iwao Hazuki)was killed by a mysterious man named Lan Di. Ryo is sworn to learn why his father was killed and to take revenge upon Lan Di, regardless of the personal cost.
After the events in Shenmue I, he travels to Hong Kong in search of a man named Yuanda Zhu, who is supposed to have information about his father's death. Ryo is a strong-willed man who tends to be impulsive. however, as the game progresses, he grows and matures he learns more about the martial arts and what it will take to conquer his father's enemies.
