SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Krabby Patty is a 2001 video game released by THQ featuring SpongeBob SquarePants. It is the first video game for the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise.

Right Side[ | ]
In the PC game, Plankton hires an army of sea ants and creates a robotic Mr. Krabs. The ants have to steal Krabby Patty ingredients, while Squidward is asleep. Then the game Invasion of the Patty Snatchers begins. The player plays as Robo-Krabs and collects the Krabby Patty ingredients from the ants. All the ingredients make four Krabby Patties. When the game is over, the sea ants bring the ingredients to Robo-Krabs, but they go the wrong way.
Back at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob wakes up Squidward and tells him he has to warn Mr. Krabs about Robo-Krabs. Squidward said that Mr. Krabs is off on a treasure hunt far away. So, SpongeBob goes to Mrs. Puff's Boating School to get his driver's licence. Then the game Boating School 101 begins. The player plays as SpongeBob and has to clear the cheakpoints according to color. When the game is over, SpongeBob gets his learner's permit.
SpongeBob finds Patrick and shows him his licence. But a minute later, a clam eats it. Then they notice fishing hooks, and Patrick thinks it's a carnival. They see cheese on the hook, and then the game Who Cut the Cheese? begins. In the game, the player has to play as either SpongeBob or Patrick. First, the player plays as one of them and has to find a certain fishing hook. Then, the player has to play as the other character to collect a certain amount of cheese before the other character reaches to the surface. When the game is over, SpongeBob collects one more piece of cheese and holds on to the fishing hook. He lands in Jellyfish Fields and Sandy askes if he wants to go jellyfishing.
It's too hard to catch jellyfish with their nets, so SpongeBob has an idea: they can use Sandy's pop guns to shoot the jellyfish. Then the game Hide and Go Jellyfishing begins. The player plays as either one of them and has to catch jellyfish by color. When the character's gun needs to be pumped, the player needs to go behind a red rock and then the player plays as the other character. At the end, SpnogeBob explains he needs to focus on finding Mr. Krabs. Then, a jellyfish gets in his net and brings him over to where Mr. Krabs is.
Mr. Krabs notices the Flying Dutchman and his pirates are stealing Mr. Krabs's treasure. Then the game Save Me Money begins. The player plays as SpongeBob and tries to shoot the pirates with a bubble cannon. When the game is finally over, SpongeBob explains to Mr. Krabs about Robo-Krabs and the missing Krabby Patties from the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs said it was just one of Plankton's "failed attempts", so Plankton becomes enraged and attempts to destroy them, but ends up blowing the robot up.
Wrong Side[ | ]
SpongeBob wakes up one morning and finds out Gary is missing. SpongeBob finds a tape recorder recorded by Plankton. Plankton said that he hid Gary and if he wants him back, he needs to get certain things. The first thing is a learner's permit. So SpongeBob goes to Mrs. Puff's Boating School to get his driver's licence. Then the game Boating School 101 begins. It's just like the game on the right side, except SpongeBob is in a regular boat instead of a hot rod and SpongeBob is wearing his Krusty Krab hat.
When he gets home, he finds another tape that says he needs to get jellyfish jelly. SpongeBob goes to Patrick's house and tells him he needs jellyfish jelly. Patrick said he would help SpongeBob get jelly. Then the game Hide and Go Jellyfishing begins. It's just like the game on the right side, except Sandy is replaced by Patrick.
Meanwhile, Plankton hires sea ants to steal Krabby Patties from the Krusty Krab. Unfortunately, the sea ants aren't smart and they go to SpongeBob's house instead. Then the game Invasion of the Patty Snatchers begins. It's like the game on the right side, except Robo-Krabs is replaced with SpongeBob and the sea ants are holding different ingredients.
SpongeBob gets a delivery from a mail truck and gets another tape. Plankton said the only thing he has to get is cheese. So SpongeBob goes to the fishing hooks to collect cheese. He finds Squidward there, and he said he will help him collect cheese. Then the game Who Cut the Cheese? begins. It's like the game on the right side, except Patrick is replaced with Squidward.
Plankton needs $100 dollars, according to his headtape. When SpongeBob gets home, he hears on another tape that Plankton needs $100 dollars. SpongeBob finds Mr. Krabs and he is off on a treasure hunt. Then the game Save Me Money begins. It is exactly like the right side game.
After the game is over, SpongeBob askes Mr. Krabs for $100. Mr. Krabs said he could give it to him if he continued working at the Krusty Krab for a full year. Gary eventually gets out of the Chum Bucket, and he goes back to SpongeBob. The Chum Bucket and Plankton is not happy that Gary escapes, and the Chum Bucket self-destructs instead of the tape recorder SpongeBob had.
