Some elves, due to their incredible perceptiveness, can contact the so-called Spirits of the Stars. However, the archdruids fear that this entity has no connection to the Primordial Spirits, so any unauthorized contacts with it are prohibited.
These fears are justified. The Star Spirits are not simply unrelated to the Primordial Spirits—they have no connection to Midian at all. They are an alien entity that expresses interest in the sentient beings of Midian and makes attempts to interact with them.
Elves who dare to violate the Supreme Council’s ban, succumb to the enticing whisper of the stars, and enter into the service of these spirits become lunar druids. The three moons of Midian somehow resonate with the messages from deep space and amplify them. During the conjunction of the moons, the voice of the stars becomes most distinct, and this is the best time for initial contact.
The most apparent goal of the Star Spirits is information. They ask numerous questions and are ready to generously pay for answers, but attempting to deceive them is not advisable. Obviously, they seek to learn as much as possible about Midian, but no one understands why they need the knowledge.
Sometimes they demand the fulfillment of a task that may seem utterly senseless, completely unmotivated, and seemingly ineffectual. But in reality, the chain of consequences can be so long, and the result so obscure, that mortals will never decipher the meaning of their actions.
The consequences of serving the Star Spirits are often dismal. The main problem is their gift of foresight, which rarely bodes well. They never lie, their predictions always come true, but they seem unwilling to predict anything positive.And the more you rely on their prophecies to prevent disaster, the worse things will get.
In theory, orc shamans could also communicate with the Star Spirits. Orcs enhance their receptor potential through various incenses to connect with different Primordial Spirits, which means it’s possible to develop incense that will allow them to hear the voice of the stars. However, most shamans are not even aware of the existence of cosmic voices, and those few who know about them would twist their index fingers at their temples if they heard about the idea of communicating with the stars. Yet the Star Spirits would love to establish contact with orcs. They even try to invent the required incense recipe themselves and pass it to shamans through lunar druids.
