Star Wars: Rogue Squadron was a popular Nintendo 64 title based on the original Star Wars trilogy of movies. It stars Luke Skywalker, though one later mission features Wedge Antilles in a playable role, instead. Rogue Squadron is a starfighter team from the Star Wars universe, known for accomplishing seemingly impossible tasks. You pilot signature space crafts from the series and take up various missions that range from protecting a train to engaging in dog fights with TIE Fighters.
The game features full voice acting. It progresses linearly, meaning you advance in a straight path from one level to the next, not allowed to continue until you beat the most recent one. You can, however, replay previous missions with new space crafts. There are also unlockable ships, the most famous of which being the Naboo Starfighter. This ship, from the Episode I prequel, was hidden inside the game for years until the movie was actually released. Because it required two passwords instead of one, no one discovered it on their own.
The developer, Factor 5, also developed Star Wars: Episode I Battle for Naboo, a similar game. The series did not receive a proper sequel until the launch of the Nintendo GameCube with Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II.
