Steam Trading Cards

Steam Trading Cards are virtual commodities on the digital distribution platform Steam. While playing supported games, players will receive "card drops" throughout the course of the game (normally within the first few hours of the game being played). In games with micro-transactions, or free-to-play games, trading cards are acquired by purchasing items in-game. These cards can be traded, or sold on the Steam Market. Once a full set has been completed, a badge can be formed, which contributes to the user's Steam Level. Levelling up grants extra friend slots on the friends list, a game coupon, an emoticon, and a profile background.
