However, there are plenty of examples of games that break this "4 Player Split screen" deal. Notably, almost all PS1/2 Sports games can support up to 8 Players. Ditto to Mario Party 7, and Micro Machines 64 Turbo which supports 8 players (2 people share a controller). Of course, the best example would be Saturn Bomberman, featuring a whopping 10 Player single screen support. -AlphaTwo

I know they don't use split screen, but then again, the article mentioends 1-4 player on consoles is a limitation due to split screen. It seems like we can branch out the split screen into another page. -AlphaTwo
