The Great Deku Tree is a forest guardian that watches over the Kokiri in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He dies in this game as he helps Link obtain one of the three Spiritual Stones that opens the Door of Time in the Temple of Time where the Master Sword is safely hidden. However, a Deku Tree Sprout grows to replace the lost Deku Tree.
In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the Great Deku Tree now lives on the island of Forest Haven, where he watches over his children, the Koroks.
