The Simpsons Skateboarding is a extreme sports video game developed by The Code Monkeys, distributed by Fox Interactive and published by Electronic Arts exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The game was released in Winter 2002 and based on the animated sitcom, The Simpsons. The story and dialogue was completely created by writers from The Simpsons and all in-game character voices supplied by the actual cast.
Springfield has been converted into a skate park for the Annual Skate Tour, full with obstacles that the player can interact with. Players can choose from nine available players to compete for the grand prize. Each character has over forty unique moves and each characters personality is different.
The Simpsons Skateboarding received mostly negative reviews. It was criticized for it's blurry and chunky graphics, sound and music, lack of skateboarding tricks and poor controls. The game got a score of 38/100 by Metacritic. IGN gave it 2.5/10. Kevin Murphy of GameSpy wrote: "I'm amazed that Sony allowed it to be released in the first place."
