Gameplay[ | ]

The Sims 2: Double Deluxe gives you the ability to create sims from bulky to slim, from male to female, from baby to senior, and so on, once you have your first sim then you can pick a neighboorhood or create your own.

Once you do this you can create lots for houses, parks, restaurants, grocery stores, and magazine stores. You should probably create some houses first so you can have some sims to go to the stores. Once you make a residential lot the following modes are available for use:

Buy Mode[ | ]

Buy Mode is the Mode where, you guessed it, you buy stuff for your sims and their house. This mode is not where you buy dinner, but the stuff to have dinner, such as tables, refrigerators, sinks, and so on. You can buy almost whatever you want, if you have the money.

Build Mode[ | ]

In build mode, yes you guessed it again, you build your house. Here you can do anything from laying the foundation, to putting up the walls, and laying down the roof. Without build mode you would just have a bed in the middle of a grassy lot.

Live Mode[ | ]

Live mode is the mode where you live in your house, go out to eat, go on dates, manage the kids, eat. This is also the mode where all of the following come into play:

Needs[ | ]

As you control a sim, their Needs have to be filled. For example if a Sim needs to take a bathroom break you click on the toilet, if one has been inhabited in the household, and a venue appears and you must choose what available action you want your sim to take. There are eight basic motives every sim has a family. If you fill a motive the bar fills up with green which means they have been satisfied, whether for a long period of time, or not. The basics motives are, Hunger, Hygiene, Energy, Comfort, bathroom, Social, Fun, and Environment. If a Sim has neglected a need long enough, they go into a Needs Failure in which something happens to the Sim, whether they have an embarrassing accident, or fall on the floor asleep.

Wants and Fears[ | ]

Every Sim has Wants that need to be filled and Fears that you need to avoid (unless you want your sim to have a bad life). Every Sim has different wants depending on their Turn Ons and Offs and their Aspiration. If you complete a want they earn aspirations points which can be used to purchase helpful items. A completion of a want also contributes to the Aspiration Meter which is how the Sims is doing in life. The higher an aspiration, the better the Sim is doing and then they can use an aspiration reward.

Aspirations[ | ]

The Sims 2: Double Deluxe has 6 aspirations and kids have the Aspiration "Grow Up" until you can decide one of the following:

  • Pleasure Aspiration
  • Family Aspiration
  • Knowledge Aspiration
  • Wealth Aspiration
  • Popularity Aspiration
  • Romance Aspiration

With these aspirations, certain wants and fears come into play mode.

  • Pleasure: Want- Eat out, Fear- Have a bad date
  • Family: Want- Have a good family, Fear- Break up
  • Knowledge: Want- Gain a logic skill point, Fear- Lose a skill point
  • Wealth: Want- Get a job, Fear- Get Fired
  • Popularity: Want- Have 3 best friends, Fear- Lose a friend
  • Romance: Want- WooHoo, Fear- Get rejected for WooHoo

Commercial lots[ | ]

Commercial Lots are where your sims can go out on the town. You can send them to the grocery store, send them on a date to the bowling alley, or to other cool places. The Sims
