Treason is an social deduction FPS game developed by Tomorrow Software and published by Klaus Veen.
Treason is heavily inspired by Trouble in Terrorist Town and Murder, which are popular game modes in Garry's Mod. However, Klaus Veen began playing Trouble in Terrorist Town on Counter-Strike: Condition Zero which is where many of the maps for Treason began to take shape. Unlike Trouble in Terrorist Town, which requires other paid games to run, Treason is a standalone title which is 100% free.
Klaus Veen, the creative director of Treason, is already fairly well known for his work as a musician, having worked on the Lethal League franchise. Early prototypes for Treason were built in a top-down 2D perspective, within the GoDot engine which featured ninjas as the playable characters. Development would move to Unity, with 3D environments & the playable characters would be changed to ghosts. Final development would eventually land on Source Multiplayer SDK 2013, where the mafia themes for game would take shape.
Joel Beukers is a fitness personality, the founder of Clean Nutrition & Team Voorgoud. The popular gym themed map Voorgoud is based on the real-life location which he trains & the map includes direct references to Joel Beukers, Clean Nutrition, & Team Voorgoud. The real-life location can be seen in this video interview with Joel Buekers by PowNews.
Treason was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows on January 31st, 2023.
