Uplay is a digital distribution system used by Ubisoft for distribution of video games, both published by Ubisoft, and by other publishers.
Functionally, the software is very similar to Steam and Origin, with patching and game launching handled by the client. It also handles save file synching with a cloud-based backup system. Many games on Steam or Epic Games Store published by Ubisoft launch the game through Uplay rather than launching the game executable directly.
