Uhm ok?[]

Yeah I corrected and just wrote that it isn't a 360 game, but I'd say you shouldn't get offended by my correction? I weren't trying to be a dick I just corrected and saying it isn't a 360 game. You're doing good adding categories but maybe try to look into the game and not just trust the infobox info.Veilor 09:49, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

No I'm not, but what's that got to do with anything?Veilor 10:36, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Well I used to edit more before, I tried and really was active. But the general support for this wiki seemed small so I started to edit less. I'm fairly new to wiki's so I don't know what rollback is, I don't really care if I get any title, this wiki would be a lot more fun if there were more active people editing. Veilor 20:39, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

True, well I saw it like that too, that maybe more will come and edit if I do more. Seeing you edit I will try to do some when I can. And yeah he should be more active, if you look around on lots of sites it seems that the updates stopped like 2008, info is really old. That's why I created a template, Out-of-date info, look at God of War 3 for example.Veilor 16:56, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Admin Rights[]

Went ahead and gave you admin rights since there is vandalism around and you have a strong history of contributions. Congrats. - Wagnike2 17:42, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

  • I removed your admin rights, as I was told my the other admins that I didn't properly follow the procedures set on this Wiki for granting someone admin rights and there was an issue with the whole process. Apologies. Please check out Wiki_Gaming:Admin_nominations for the proper procedure. - Wagnike2 16:52, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Cheevo Archive Wiki Request for Afiliation[]

Hi Admins of the Gaming Wiki,

I am here on behalf of the Cheevo Archive Wiki in order to make a request of the Gaming Wiki.

Firstly, I guess I should give you a rundown on exactly what Cheevo Archive Wiki is. Well basically it is a wiki that was made in order to provide easily accessible guides and to Video Game achievements/trophies. The wiki was formed on February 28th 2012 and so far is going pretty well. We were approved of Wiki Spotlight on the 22nd of March and are now working on getting some partnerships going with other affiliated Video Gaming wiki's such as this one.

So now the big question, would the Gaming Wiki be interested in forming some kind of affiliation/partnership? We would add a link to the wiki on our main page and add the Wiki to our list of Affiliated Wikis (not created yet). We believe the partnership could be mutually beneficial.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this request.

Freeware Portal[]

Hey Zmario! I was prowling around the Portals here and I noticed an outdated and unlisted version of the Free to Play Games Portal. Might this be something worth deleting? -Revitalizer 04:03, June 13, 2012 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for the heads up. Zmario 18:59, June 13, 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I'm Gig, an admin of the OpenArena Wiki. A guy called "Rct. Tsoul" contacted me on the OpenArena forums, asking me to contact you because he has been banned in your wiki. I asked more infos and he replied me that he created an unfinished page here (Multiplayer_game), where he posted some links of patch files for an online game ("IL-2 Stumvick 1946"? I don't know that.). The page has been deleted and he has been banned for spamming. I don't know him a lot, but he actually added an OpenArena patch download mirror on our wiki, in the proper page. I told him that what he created here was out of context, at least because a patch for a specific game may be in the page about that specific game (note: I didn't know this wiki and I don't know what extra stuff you are used to put in the review pages), but for sure not in a generic "multiplayer game" page in a site that talks about many diffent games. He recognized his errors, and said that <<I see what I did wrong, at a quick glance it would look like spam, please let the guy know I am a newb at wiki and restore my posting privilages and messaging privaliges, ill be more carefull next time and check the url of the page I am making or editing, thanks for pointing that out for me.>>. What happened seems compatible with an error, IMHO, and probably I would have not banned him without warning him before. Anyway, this is your wiki and do what you think it is better. Bye! --The Gig (Contact me) 20:23, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, thank you. Please explain to him what he did wrong (including a missing "work in progress" notice for a such incomplete page), and thank you agan! --The Gig (Contact me) 21:39, June 14, 2012 (UTC)
PS: I see your wiki has got more frequent edits than our small OpenArena wiki... but why does it has got particular attention form Wiki staff, as you said? If it's not a secret... --The Gig (Contact me) 21:41, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

please if you can retrive the page you deleted and paste it here on this page, that was some hard work for me as this editor sometimes messes up:

Blacklight: Retribution wiki[]

I am the admin of the Blacklight Wiki, the wiki about the free-to-play shooter Blacklight: Retribution. Our wiki has over 500 pages now, and also an affiliated German wiki that has ~250 pages. I was wondering if we could get listed on one of the portals of this fine page here? Do let me know if this would be possible and what we'd have to do for it.

Old Sub-Pages[]

Hey Zmario, the  new Main page is up! I took the opportunity to archive the old sub-pages for features that aren't used now (to avoid clutter and make finding the correct current sub-pages easier) in the Project namespace (they can all be found at "Project:Archive/(name of sub-page)). Since I'm not able to suppress a redirect, I've marked the old pages for deletion. One sub-page, Codex Gamicus/Sponsored Link, was also locked and needs to be moved to "Codex Gamicus:Archive/Sponsored Link". I'd appreciate it if you could help with these. -Revitalizer (talk) 00:00, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for taking care of those. Could you clarify a bit though: Is Category:Codex Gamicus Archive supposed to be new? I can't find it currently; the only similar thing I can find is Category:Archived pages. Should I also use the Template:Archive? -Revitalizer (talk) 17:32, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Since they categorization is via template, I'll go ahead and start adding it. But if you do want to go with Category:Codex Gamicus Archive, it'll work in the template. Looking at the page history for Archive, the Category, when you tried the new one, was only missing leading brackets. If you try it again with them intact, it will work. -Revitalizer (talk) 22:51, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Once again though, you'll have to take care of Codex Gamicus:Archive/Sponsored Link.
You can never trust the text. Something always goes wrong. :p By the way, the Archive template was designed for User talk pages so the last sentence, "Direct any additional comments to the current talk page.", didn't make sense. I edited the Template to be able to suppress this on non-user talk pages. If there's a message you'd prefer for it to read though, I can make it so it display that. -Revitalizer (talk) 23:02, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Suggestions for the Main Page[]

Hey there Zmario,

I have created two forum posts addressing some suggestions and concerns about the portal page. The first addresses the current platforms section on the main page and can be read: HERE. The second is a suggestion for the featured video section and can be read: HERE. I believe the admins should take a quick read as it may be of some use to the wiki.

Star Names[]

Hey Zmario, I hope you're not sick of me asking if you can use your superpowers yet because there's something else. XD Apparently, only Admins can rename images. Before we start using the new stars would you mind going ahead and renaming them so a they're lowercase and so a few are more recognizable?

  • File:Hubstar-Jet.png to File:Hubstar-black.png
  • File:Hubstar-Pearl.png to File:Hubstar-pearl.png (Do you think "pink" might be better? Any opinion?)
  • File:Hubstar-Bronze.png to File:Hubstar-bronze.png
  • File:Hubstar-Silver.png to File:Hubstar-silver.png
  • File:Hubstar-Gold.png to File:Hubstar-gold.png
  • File:Hubstar-Platinum.png to File:Hubstar-platinum.png
If you do ahead and rename, make sure not to suppress the redirects. -Revitalizer (talk) 03:46, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Your theme designer changes[]

May I ask why you made such a sweeping change to the entire wiki (the colour changes) without any attempt (that I can see) to determine the community consensus regarding the changes?

Unilateral changes such as this are not really what admins are supposed to be doing, and it's unfortunate that I should even have to write this at all. I look forward to your response. - Adan Aileron (talk) 17:17, January 13, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Mario. It's me, 414, from the Creepypasta wiki.

I was just wondering why you left the wiki.

But... my loot... 10:43, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

I can't speak for Adan, but a fair bit has changed around here. You're welcome to re-apply for SysOp. I've made a few additions and changes, such as a replacement infobox for games, and a Game Index to make it easier to catalogue what we have, and what article name it should be under; I have plans to expand the index idea to account for Game companies, and gaming hardware.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:32, April 13, 2014 (UTC)

For now, activity in general is good. There are several things I still intend to improve, like our naming convention for subsequent releases of games that use the same game title; Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is a good example of this. Ideally, it should be titled Super Smash Bros. (2014). The game index will assist in this.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 18:17, April 14, 2014 (UTC)
Jinx has a bot that he has been using to remove dead links, he can probably enable it again. As for the Crusader, I was acting on previous Blizzard information that stated that, while the Crusader could play alongside players who did not own the Expansion, the Expansion would be required to roll your own Crusader. It was also only unlocked when RoS launched. Every piece of information points to Crusader being an Expansion-exclusive class.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 18:37, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
As an additional point, it should be preferred that articles that refer to games that have had expansions refer to games as they behaved as of their latest patch before an expansion notched up the version numbers. World of Warcraft is an example where the game should be referenced down to what was in it prior to The Burning Crusade, upon which, we detail what happened in that expansion until Wrath of the Lich King hit, and etc. Part of our appeal should be preserving games in a historical context, as well as keeping abreast of new developments. In cases of World of Warcraft, however, it may be practical to create a central page, such as World of Warcraft/Current, or similar, to provide an overview of what can be achieved/explored in the game thus far.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 18:43, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
I would argue that patch documentation is very important, especially for older games where the company is either no longer around, or where the current company has ceased offering publicly-accessible documentation. It is a lot of work, but I think the effort will be worth it.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 00:36, April 16, 2014 (UTC)
Because of the major size of game patch notes, I would recommend that we uses a /Patches article to give an overview of major features added in patches over the life of the game, with each patch having it's own article for the in-depth and complete changes that were made.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 17:35, April 16, 2014 (UTC)
Change has already been made. Existing articles with lowercase letters (like /codes) will need renaming to use upper-case letters (like /Codes) if the infobox is replacing an existing one, and those articles exist.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 19:59, April 16, 2014 (UTC)
Definitely open to improvements. Platform will be problematic, because a lot will share platforms, which means it won't be logically sortable most of the time. Year, yes, all for that. Rating, not so much, because it's additional work to ensure that they all match. If we remove rating, we can add Developer and Publisher information, which I would argue adds better value for the space.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 14:39, April 17, 2014 (UTC)
The VTE links are View, Talk and Edit; they are shortcuts to the template itself, and are features of the code.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:15, April 17, 2014 (UTC)
No, because that would defeat the point of them being there. They're quite useful, really, and there are things more deserving of fixes than a Wikipedia-approved template. :p. Also, do you have Skype?--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:21, April 17, 2014 (UTC)

RfA System[]

Hello, Zmario. I'm Jinx, the newest bureaucrat and admin here. And, yes, you can nominated yourself for admin-ship. For all of our new policies you can see here. Happy Editing! Jínx (talk) 23:02, April 17, 2014 (UTC)

Great. Glad you're back with us!!! Jínx (talk) 23:14, April 17, 2014 (UTC)

We've used some of the policies that have worked well over at Yu-Gi-Oh! In an ideal world, other editors would nominate other for SysOp, but that rarely happens. Instead, if editors can nominate themselves, the community can still look at the edits made by that person, and come to a consensus.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 00:44, April 18, 2014 (UTC)
Should be OK to incorporate the table as-it-stands. And feel free to amend the names with "The" in them how you see fit.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 10:46, April 18, 2014 (UTC)
Some have more than one, and for others, it's completely open to interpretation. Release date is also a non-starter because a lot of games had separate releases for different platforms.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 11:00, April 18, 2014 (UTC)
Could you hold off on the games for a bit? Someone on 4chan made a massive compiled list of games (around 43,806 by last count), and I'm going to try getting them uploaded piece-by-piece.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 17:09, April 19, 2014 (UTC)
Completely agreed. I'm keeping my eyes open, there are a few games already missed in that list from Steam, but once we have the list integrated, it'll be easier to add everything in. Current game tally stands at 43806.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 01:01, April 20, 2014 (UTC)
Actually, there is one useful thing that can be done in the interim. Could you do some digging, and make a sandbox page of open-source games that are supplied in the Linux repositories? I think they're currently a very neglected side of gaming. (Games like Freedoom, Progress Quest, etc)--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 01:03, April 20, 2014 (UTC)
Not a problem. Also, one major change in the GameInfobox template, it will now allow automatic embedding of categories and links for Developers, Publishers, Platforms and Genres. Now also supports Composers and Writers.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 13:41, April 27, 2014 (UTC)
The 0-9 section has been integrated from the master list I had, save for developers and years (which might even be inaccurate on previous pages). Those lists are now a-go for being able to be edited, and appropriate information added/corrected.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 17:11, April 29, 2014 (UTC)
I thought I would close it, since it has been six days.. have fun! ;) Jínx (talk) 23:54, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

That's the point. The infobox is designed to include much of the same functionality that has previously been manually included. The system is automated, and designed to be comprehensive; there is no chance of a category being omitted by accident (for the sections appropriately coded so far).

With regard to two categories - The system previously used here was not informative to the user as to the significance of the data within that category. "1995 games", for instance, could mean anything. Released, developed, re-released, etc. A system should not be kept simply because it is inconvenient to change, or requires time for changes to be filtered down by changing templates over. Your suggestion regarding Colons in the Ratings categories has been implemented.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 00:04, May 1, 2014 (UTC)

Watch_Dogs Instant Expert Chat[]

Hi Zmario,

We are currently putting together an Instant Expert for Watch_Dogs, similar to -- but more elaborate than -- the ones we did for The Elder Scrolls Online and Titanfall. Instead of giving you a questionnaire to fill out, I'd like to schedule a time to chat about Watch_Dogs over Skype, AIM, or whatever chat client you prefer. If we could chat some time tomorrow morning, that would be great. Let me know what times work for you and how you'd like to have the chat.

KX Josh (talk) 00:40, August 10, 2014 (UTC)

It's a theme difference. RPGs refer to games that can be summarised as an RPG. Roleplay itself is a slightly bigger context, and there are Wikis out there about the concept, rather than just the games. Also, RPGs don't *really* do justice to some forms of roleplay, such as roleplay-by-post and MUDs.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 13:04, August 15, 2014 (UTC)

As a general overview, what do you want the Bot to do?--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 01:36, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

I've fixed all the Double Redirects that I can edit. I have a few queries though.

  • Does this wiki accept speedrunning articles, like speedrunning applications and strategies?
  • Does this wiki generally use ref tags? For example [1]
  1. Test
  • What needs to be done on this wiki in general?

Godzilla Gamer (talk|contribs) 12:44, August 23, 2014 (UTC)

Hey GG! Thanks for the help! As for your questions, speedrunning articles are fine (such as tools/programs). Yes, like most Wikis, we're supposed to use reference tags, however, no one seems to follow that rule (myself included). As for what needs to be done: there's a whole lot from rewriting Wikipedia imports, to updating templates and outdated information, expanding stubs, removing redlinks and broken templates, switching over old infoboxes to the new one, new pictures, reference tagging, deleting duplicate pages, etc. Zmario 14:05, August 23, 2014 (UTC)

Social Media[]

In an attempt to grow this wiki, should we open social media profiles? This could keep contributors up to date with both gaming and wiki news. I'm sure it'll attract contributors, especially when the spotlight goes live! Godzilla Gamer (Talk) (Contributions) (Edit Count) 18:24, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

I would actually go for Flight simulation over Flight Simulator, as the latter is too close to an actual series of games.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:57, August 28, 2014 (UTC)

New Switch in GameInfobox[]

Thought you might like this. I haven't been happy for games that were re-released in bundles and collections many years later, especially on different platforms. I've created a new option, called {{{nonrelease}}}. Works the same as Platform, with the commas, etc, except this is for platforms where the player or the market never saw the game as a standalone title.

I'm also going to look into splitting Virtual Console (at least within game articles) to Wii Virtual Console, Wii U Virtual Console and 3DS Virtual Console, as they operate independently (especially given that the Wii U and the 3DS use the Nintendo eShop, over the Wii's Wii Shop Channel.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 01:50, August 29, 2014 (UTC)

Not much has changed, but the Ratings system has been altered a bit. Now, rather than list them per system (i.e. |esrb, etc), we can either define that all at once (i.e. |ratings = BBFC-15,ESRB-T) or individually (|rating1 = ESRB-T, |rating2 = BBFC-15), with a descriptor if the rating applied to different platforms (ratingdesc1 = The GBA release was rated T by the ESRB, |ratingdesc2 = The PlayStation 2 release was rated E10+ by the ESRB). Added a new new sub-pages, such as Compatibility (to document the suitability of playing old gamers on newer hardware and operating systems.--TwoTailedFox (talk) 23:41, January 9, 2015 (UTC)

Great work! Also, don't forget Ubisoft San Francisco :) (and if we want to get pedantic, the old Ubi Soft company.--TwoTailedFox (talk) 21:44, January 15, 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I don't know what that is.

Wiki Portals[]

Hello, I am founder and administrator at Japanese PC Games Wiki.
I sent a message to Jagged85 this morning but I have had no answer yet.
I would like to add my wiki in the following Portals Wiki List: Japanese RPGs, Action Adventure and Platformers)
I would really appreciate it. I don't know if I am allowed to do it myself and if I may use several themes.
Thus, I would like to ask you before.

First of all, WOW! Your wiki is incredible!

I have recently started contributing to a wiki for a game called Monster Squad, and I am hoping that you can help me with something.

I guess I am trying to create a DPL and I came across your Codex Gamicus because it seems that someone from here (Revitalizer) asks for help setting your up a few years ago and his archived topic showed up when I was doing a google seach.

Anyways, what I am looking for is a little different from what you have, but I fortunately can show you exactly what my aim is, because the korean version of this game has a very nice DPL that I basically want to copy, but I dont know the first thing about creating a DPL except for what Ive been reading for the past couple of hours, and it is way over my head for now.

Here is the DPL I am trying to copy, as you can see, it allows users to search by multiple attributes, and you can search for monsters that all of have certain abilities and such. Once you see the monster that interests you, you can even click on it and it opens a small window showing his precise stats, which is really neat. (I use google chrome which translates it for me)

I dont really need the little windows to pop up, I could just have it go to other pages or whatever, but any tips you can give me on creating the DPL side of it would be a huge help.

I clicked inspect element, on theirs, so I have lots of info, but I dont really know what everything is.

Welcome back :D[]

Where have you been? :P How are you? :) George (Talk · Contribs · Edit count) 12:24, May 2, 2015 (UTC)
