Windows Phone is a discontinued mobile operating system family developed by Microsoft for smartphones as the replacement for Windows Mobile and Zune. It first launched in October 2010 as Windows Phone 7, and the last release was Windows Phone 8.1 in April 2014.
It was succeeded by Windows 10 Mobile in 2015.
